Bishop Olumakaiye Praises Women Organizations For Their Added Value To Lagos Diocese Achievements

The Women’s and Girls’ Organisations  of the Lagos Diocese Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion under the able leadership  of Professor Mrs Motunrayo Olumakaiye have broken new grounds, by organising programmes that continue to meet various needs of all categories of women.

While reading  his Presidential Address at this year Synod  the Bishop of Lagos and Missioner of the Diocese Rt Rev Dr Humphrey Olumakaiye noted that the organisation had put smiles on the faces  of the young, the old, widows, the indigent, the business and professional women.
The Bishop noted that during the COVID-19 pandemic they donated medical and cleaning items worth over one million naira to the Lagos State Government .
In like manner, he said the women organizations distributed food items worth over two million naira as palliatives to over 420 actively indigent women across the Diocese to ” cushion the effects of the pandemic during the lockdown.
Other worth noting interventions the Bishop said included sponsorship of several indigent students and various capital projects at the Archbishop Abiodun Adetiloye Comprehensive College, Igboye, Epe.
” Currently four students are on full scholarship on their organization’s ticket aside from the ones being sponsored by churches and other private individuals. “
He also mentioned the contributions of Sir Benjami Wilcox, Chairman of the School’s Board of Governors and Barrister Segun Ajayi the Diocesan Registrar for awarding two new scholarships to  two indigent students
Bishop Olumakaiye said the following projects were completed by the women organizations; namely eight storey building as boys hostel, an extension of the academic building, purchase of ceiling and orbit fans, water networking, construction of bunk beds and lockers for students’ use, purchase of plastic chairs and tables for students, screening of the entire floors of both the existing and new buildings.
At the Archbishop Adebola & Mrs Oluranti Ademowo Christian Resource Centre ( Faith Plaza) Bariga the organizations dedicated the Ultra Modern 40- room, 4- star Guest House, named : ” Faith Lodge” at a cost of over one hundred million naira. Work is also going on in the compound to put an end to the perennial flooding usually experienced during rainy  season. Also they purchased a 300 Kia electricity generator to power the facilities at the centre.
Bishop Olumakaiye gave kudos to the women for the way the continue to make waves.  He prayed that only   God could adequately reward their labours in the vineyard.
