Kagara Abduction: Gov. Sani Bello Shuts Down Boarding Schools In 4 LGAs In Niger State

The Niger State Governor Dr Sani Bello has released an order earlier today directing the immediate closure of all the boarding schools in four local government areas in Niger State.Sani Bello Governor Of Niger State

The order came after 27 students, 3 staffs and 12 members of their staff families were abducted earlier today in Niger State from the Government Science College, Kagara LGAs, the abduction took place in the early hours of Wednesday, February 17.

Governor Sani Bello who since the incidence took place has called on the Federal Government to immediately deploy all necessary means to help bring back all those that have been abducted by Bandits. The Governor who spoke to newsmen in Minna, also ordered that all boarding schools in Rafi, Mariga, Munya and Shiroro local Government areas of the state be closed until further notice.

The governor also commented on the viral video of bandits celebrating the abduction of the passengers of the NSTAbus that was attacked on Sunday, February 14 and demanded a sum of N500 million as ransom. The governor commented this and said his Government does not and will not give money to bandits because what has been noticed is that they go on to use such ransom money to buy more sophisticated weapons and use them to wreak more havoc. But rather the government is ready to support and assist repentant bandits.

Sani Bello said;

“It is not in our policy as a government to pay ransom to bandits because we have noticed that they use this money to buy arms and ammunition. However, the government will be ready to support and assist repentant bandits.
“We are deeply concerned at these recent sad events and asking the federal government to deploy every necessary resources while we will look at all options, both kinetic and non-kinetic to ensure the safe return of the victims of both incidences.
“We will not rest or sleep until we bring them back to their families.”

Governor Sani Bello also disclosed that 27 students, three staff and 12 members of their families were abducted.
