Registration number registering for Affordable Care Act health insurance

More than 14.2 million people have selected the 2022 health insurance plans offered under the Affordable Care Act since open enrollment began Nov. 1, 2021, according to federal health officials.

That number includes more than 10 million people in all 33 states using federal marketplaces on The 17 states and the District of Columbia with state-based marketplace platforms reported that 4.2 million people signed up.

Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra released the numbers reminding Americans to register with before the January 15, 2022 open registration TBEN. The Biden administration extended the OEP from this year through January 15 for coverage beginning February 1, 2022.

A new HHS report shows that the majority of consumers enrolled in Affordable Care Act (ACA) coverage on have deductibles below $1,000 thanks to the ACA’s cost-sharing reductions (CSRs). COSAs are generally available to consumers whose income does not exceed 250% of the federal poverty level (for example, for 2022, for most states, $32,200 for a single adult and $66,250 for a family of four people).

Financial assistance under the US bailout has also resulted in lower deductibles for many enrollees.

“Health coverage shouldn’t make or break anyone’s bank, especially in the midst of a once-in-a-generation pandemic,” Becerra said.
