The Lagos State government has announced that the Airport Bridge at Toyota on the Oshodi-Isolo Expressway will be temporarily shut down to vehicular movements.
This was contained in a statement on Sunday by the Lagos Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederic Oladeinde who explained that the shut down became necessary for the government to carry out structural engineering tests on the bridge following a recent tanker fire that might have affected the structure.
“In the light of this development, the state traffic management officials shall be deployed to the aforementioned corridors to control and manage traffic flow along the axis during the course of the diversions.
“The Lagos State Government is assuring the motoring public that the Airport Bridge shall be opened for use as soon as the tests or requisite intervention makes it safe and secure to do so,” he noted.
Motorists are therefore advised to make use of alternative routes pending when the bridge will be reopened to traffic after the tests.
The Commissioner added that as an alternative, motorists from Mile 2 to Cele on Apapa-Oshodi Expressway will make use of Aiye and Osolo Way to Asa Afariogun through 7&8 to access International Airport Road while others from Toyota would use the service lanes by Armed Forces Resettlement Centre to BOC Gases on old NAFDAC Headquarters.
Meanwhile, the convener of the Revolution Now Movement, Omoyele Sowore, has been granted bail in the sum of N20 million.
Magistrate Mabel Segun-Bello of the Magistrate Court sitting in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja gave the ruling on Monday, June 11, 2021.
Naija News reports that the Police in Abuja arrested Sowore, Peter Williams, Sanyaolu Juwon, Emmanuel Bulus, and Damilare Adenola on New Year’s eve for organising a protest.
The police had arraigned the five persons last Monday on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, unlawful assembly, and incitement.
